DIY Face Masks

After a long day at the zoo today, the only thing in my mind during the drive back home was, "Ugh.. I can't wait to get home, shower, and put on a face mask.". If you've seen some of my previous posts, you'll know I'm a big fan of the L'Oréal Clay Masks (see post here). But occasionally I like to make my own face mask to target specific issues. So I decided to dedicate this post to DIY face mask recipes! Scroll down to find a face mask to suit your skin!

Combat Acne-Prone Skin

This mask is from LaurenReidMUA and it is used to dry out blemishes, balance pH of skin, and heal damaged skin.

1 Tbl. Apple Cider Vinegar

1 Tsp. Ground Cinnamon

2 Tbl. Honey

Whisk ingredients together until the formula is fluffy, apply to clean face with a cotton ball, and leave on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off.

Matte Up Oily Skin

I got this mask from HolisticHealthHerbalist. It reduces excess oil, leaves skin smooth and matte, AND since it's moisturizing, it tricks your skin into producing less oil.

3 Tbl. Powdered Oatmeal

2-3 Tsp. Strong Green Tea

1 Tsp. Honey

It calls for 2-3 drops of tea tree essential oil, but I always skip that and it works just fine!

Mix ingredients with warm tea and apply an even layer to clean skin. Leave on for 20 minutes and rinse off.

Hydrate Dry Skin

I found this recipe on SomewhatSimple, it's one of my most favorite DIY masks EVER. It is specifically for giving your thirsty skin a boost of moisture!

1/2 Cup Uncooked Oatmeal

1/2 Cup Water

1/2 Cup Milk

1 Tbl. Honey

Put ingredients in a saucepan and heat over medium heat for about 5 minutes, make sure to stir it constantly! Then let cool and apply a thick layer to clean face. Leave on for 10-15 minutes and rinse off.

Brighten Up Dull Skin

This mask is from TotalBeauty and will exfoliate and wake up your tired-looking skin!

1 Tsp. Nutmeg

1 Tsp. Cinnamon

1 Tsp. Turmeric

2 Tbl. Honey

Combine ingredients in small bowl to form a paste, then apply evenly on clean skin. Leave on for 20 minutes then wash off with warm water.

Slow Down Aging Skin

I got this recipe from MothersNiche. The lemon in this mask will help tighten and shrink your pores. The Honey will help heal your skin and brighten your skin. As for the coconut oil, do I really need to tell you? Haha it's pure magic for your skin!

1 Tbl. Coconut Oil

2 Tsp. Honey

1 Tsp. Lemon Juice

Mix ingredients together and apply to clean face. Leave on for 20 minutes and then rinse off!

I tried to only list masks that have common ingredients you all will, more than likely, have in your kitchens already. I know there's a million other great recipes, but these have all worked really well for me. What DIY masks have worked well for you? Let me know below! 😘
